(A GLWClub Exclusive)
Welcome to Day 16!!
Today, we’re turning our attention to your space with a gentle, practical declutter. This is your invitation to clear a few surfaces, reset the areas you use every day, and create a space that feels a little lighter and easier to move through!
Inside this guide, you’ll find a simple room-by-room checklist, with quick reset ideas you can tackle in short bursts, and prompts to help you decide what’s ready to be cleared as we start looking toward spring. Let’s get started!
Clear surfaces
Start by removing anything that doesn’t belong, such as loose papers, random items, things that quietly accumulated over the weeks. Wipe down surfaces so the space feels visibly refreshed the moment you walk in. Aim for just the essentials: a place for keys, maybe a small tray, and room to breathe.
Ask yourself: what do I actually need within reach when I come home?
Edit shoes and bags
Take a quick look at what’s currently living by the door and pull out anything you’re not actively using. Store off-season pairs or extras so the space feels intentional rather than crowded. Keeping only a few go-to options makes leaving the house feel smoother.
Notice which items you reach for daily and let those stay.
Reset the first impression
Think about how it feels to walk through your door at the end of the day. Straighten what’s visible, fluff a mat or wipe down the area, and create a sense of calm the moment you enter. Even small adjustments can shift the tone of your home.
What would make this space feel welcoming to you right now?
Step 1: Do a quick scan
Stand in front of your closet and slowly look through what’s hanging or folded. Notice what you naturally gravitate toward and what you consistently skip over when getting dressed. Pull out a few pieces that feel off. Maybe they don’t fit quite right, feel dated, or simply don’t reflect where you are right now. Keep it light - you’re just gathering, not deciding everything yet.
Step 2: Edit with honesty
Hold each piece and ask yourself a few simple questions:
Would I buy this again today?
Have I worn this in the past season?
Do I feel comfortable and like myself in it?
If the answer is no, set it aside for donating, storing, or rethinking.
Step 3: Reset what stays
Take a few minutes to straighten hangers, fold stacks neatly, and group similar items together so your closet feels visually calm. Bring your most-worn pieces into easy reach - the tops, bottoms, and layers you rely on week to week. This small reset makes getting dressed feel smoother immediately!
Step 4: Create a little breathing room
If possible, leave a bit of space between items so everything feels lighter. Even a small amount of visual openness can change how your closet feels when you open the door. Think of it as making room for the next season, both literally and mentally.
What pieces make getting dressed feel easy right now, and how can I give those more space?
Toss expired products
Start by pulling everything out (drawers, shelves, shower ledges) so you can see what’s actually there. Go through items one by one and set aside anything expired, nearly empty, or clearly no longer in rotation; this alone can clear surprising space. Pay attention to changes in smell, texture, or color, and let those be easy decisions.
As you sort, keep these in mind:
Products you haven’t used in the last few months
Old skincare you were “trying out” but never loved
Half-finished bottles taking up space
Makeup past its prime
What do I realistically reach for in my everyday routine?
Simplify daily essentials
Now look at what truly supports your mornings and evenings and keep those front and center. Group your core items together so getting ready feels more effortless, like the products you use without thinking, not the ones you feel you “should” use. Store extras, backups, or occasional treatments out of sight to reduce visual clutter.
You might gather:
Your go-to cleanser and moisturizer
Toothbrush, toothpaste, and daily care items
A few favorite beauty staples
One or two products that feel like a treat
If I could only keep the simplest version of my routine, what would stay?
